HOW TO SWITCH TO WYSONG URETIC FORMULA
In order to do a smooth transition to Wysong Uretic formula, give your cat about 10% of the new food mixed with the old food and slowly increase proportions to 100% in a 7-day period.
General intake guidelines are:
5 lb. cat: ¼ – ½ cup per day
10 lb. cat: ½ – ¾ cup per day
15 lb. cat: ½ – ¾ cup per day
20 lb. cat: ¾ – 1 cup per day
ANALYSIS OF FIRST 5 INGREDIENTS OF WYSONG URETIC FORMULA
Check the rating of the first ingredients on the list of Wysong recipes. The first 5 ingredients represent a large percentage of the formula.
Chicken: 2 stars. It contains water in muscles so it adds fewer proteins and more water. Good to complement with a chicken meal.
Chicken Meal: 5 stars. High concentrated source of proteins because water has been extracted. Excellent for cats.
Fish Meal: 2 stars. A source of protein that is not described. Low in fatty acids since oil has been pressed out. Generally not a good quality fish.
Turkey Meal: 4 stars. Meal means the meat has been processed, cooked, and pulverized.
Peas: 5 stars. Peas are an excellent source of protein, fiber, and carbohydrates.
What are the Pros and Cons of Wysong Uretic Dry Cat Formula?

CONS
- It informs some of the 11 essential amino-acids cats need in the food’s nutritional analysis.
- Tomato pomace might be too acidic for cats with very sensitive stomach
- Fish meal does not describe type of fish and source
- Formula might not replace some prescription urinary diets
CONCLUSION
The main part of the formula is represented by the firs 5 ingredients, but I consider the first 3 to rate a cat food because it shows the actual quality of the proteins. Considering its 3 first ingredients Wysong Uretic Feline Dry Formula has an average rate of 3 stars. Additionally, the formula contains taurine and methionine, which is excellent, but the formula doesn’t inform the rest of 11 essential amino-acids.
Very important point you MUST consider: All dry cat foods are not sufficient for a healthy cat diet and they must be complemented with canned wet food and giving your cat plenty of water at all times. Your cat’s water intake must come from food and water.
Wysong Urecit Formula is a good cat food for a maintenance diet, but it does not inform in the food’s nutritional analysis the 11 essential aminoacids cats need, and it contains carbs as the fifth ingredient.

One of my cats is in kidney failure. Are there any cat foods, wet or dry, designed to help cats with this problem. Or any RX drugs?
I currently purchase dry foods made by Hills c/d in 2 flavors, plus wet foods on a daily basis. Pls help me. Thank you very much.

Hello June, I suggest you to feed your cat a Vet recommended food for your kitty. I am sorry I couldn’t help you more, I wish you find the best formula for your feline friend.

Enough liquids is essential for good kidney function. I am a holistic health practitioner. My cat had struvite crystals and cystitis at only 8 months old. He was put on an Rx food by our vet for urinary health which has helped alleviate the condition. He is now 10 months old. I give him distilled water, twice a day, fresh in a clean bowl daily and he is drinking more water. He doesn’t like wet food so it has been a challenge. I also had people praying for him and I know it has helped to heal him. God loves His creatures.

Has the Wysong Uretic recipe been changed? Because only here on this website do I find the ingredients tolerable. On all other websites and on the packaging, the top four ingredients are different. I would buy this cat food if these were the ingredients, but from what the official Wysong website shows, this is not what would be in the food if I bought it at this point.
I have two brothers, nearly two years old, and their previous dry food caused one to have struvite crystals. I’ve been looking for a maintenance diet that I can trust the ingredients of and that’ll help prevent recurrences. My only problem is the clash of price and quality. I have him on the Hill’s prescription diet until the crystals clear up, but knowing he and his brother have a predisposition for urinary problems (and that the old dry food is at partial fault) makes me want to switch to something of both higher quality and urinary care.
I feed both canned and dry foods. Originally I only fed canned, until the cost caught up to me, so I began to feed both so that I didn’t go through cans as fast. However, about two months after introducing extra dry food to their diet and here we are. I like the wet food I feed my boys, and it has been only the dry that’s causing problems. But I’m struggling to find a replacement for the dry food.
