In reply to <a href="https://www.catfooddispensersreviews.com/sureflap-dualscan-microchip-cat-door-review/#comment-46889">Hope Mendez</a>.

Hi Hope, thanks for sharing your experience. A few very stubborn raccoons can make their way no matter what, unfortunately this was your case. The flap seem to work with other raccoons that give up on the flap. Regarding a faulting sensor, the customer service is willing to analyze the case and determine if the sensors are faulty and they replace the unit for a new one. Maybe you should try to use your warranty on this flap. Check if there are metal objects inside close to the door or a microwave in front of it. This could affect the RFID range.

The sensors on the inside are quite small and are less reliable than the sensors on the outside, The cats can get in easily but sometimes have a harder time getting out. We think it is because the sensors are so much smaller on this model and is less reliable than the regular first generation catflap which I also own. We have tested it with a paper collar around the tunnel in the inside both in black and white paper. It reads the sensor better with a white collar. The dual catflap does not like the new led lighting. As for raccoon proofing, the raccoon was able to make it's way inside by using it's hind legs and kicking the door open. We have photos from a wildlife camera. Once inside the house it absconded with a loaf of bread which it ate part of the loaf. We think the raccoon experienced panic because it could not exit through the door, and then used it's back legs again to kick it's way out the door.
